In the last match on ARCB Trinidad and Tobago tour, ARCB U-13 team played a day-night T20 against a strong Secondary Schools Cricket League’s (SSCL) representative team. The SSCL team comprised of some of the best boys in T&T school’s league competition & one from Barbados.
SSCL team won the toss and decided to bat first. SSCL scored 145 for 5 in 20 overs with top score from Captain Sachin Emrit, 40 off 56, who plays for T&T national U-13 team. For ARCB, Arjun V 4-0-34-2 and Nayan E 4-0-11-1 were the pick off the bowlers. The team again displayed some agile fielding to produce 2 run outs.
Batting under lights, ARCB boys came up against tall lanky Barbados fast bowler Matthew Gittens, 2-0-6-0, who himself was touring the island nation. Matthew was the fastest bowler the boys faced on the tour. Arjun V top scored with 30 runs off 46 and Shashank Gundlapally scored 14 off 13. ARCB boys came up 40 runs short against some disciplined pace and spin bowling finishing with 105 for 7 in 20 overs. Ravindra Ramlal 3-1-8-4 was the best bowler for SSCL.
For SSCL, Sachin Emrit won the best batsmen award and Ravindra Ramlal won the best bowler award. Arjun Vajjala was awarded the best batsmen and the best bowler awards for Arjun V and Nayan E for their bowling performance.
ARCB boys had an amazing experience of playing a day-night game in front of couple hundred cheerful spectators. SSCL President Surujdath Mahabir, and Vice President Sharaz Mohammad, who was instrumental in organizing the tour, and invited the Atlantic Region for future tours to help develop tomorrow’s Caribbean and American Cricketers.
