Today 4/9/2017, Atlantic Region U-13 boys played it’s first game against Harvard Cricket Club (HCC) as part of Atlantic Region – Trinidad tournament, at the historic Queens Royal College (founded in 1904) Cricket Ground. This club has great history of making international cricketers.
HCC Won the toss and elected to bat first for a 25 over a side match.
Opening the bowling for ARCB Shapnil Roy and Yashaswi Goutam bowled a very sharp and accurate spell of pace bowling. Yash got 2 wickets and Shapnil got 1 wicket in opening Spell. Nayan Elamurugan and Mihir Ganguly capitalized on the great start provided by the Shapnil and Yash. At one time, HCC Batsman Sachin Emil was hitting boundaries and tried to capture the game in to HCC control. Shashank Gundlapally took Sachil Emil by LBW. Rally continued by Nayan and Mihir, where Nayan got 2 wickets with his classic flights and Mihir with proper line and length swept to take 3 clean bowled. Aditya with very good flight grabbed one wicket.
ARCB boys earned a speical praise from HCC Coach for their excellent work on the field.
ARCB boys succeeded always in breaking HCC developing partnership and keopt picking wickets at regular intervals getting HCC out for 57 runs on a slow and low bounce wicket.
Prannav Chettipalayam & Arjun Vajjala opened the batting. After a solid opening stand, Team was in a spot by loosing 3 wickets quickly. Shashank Gundlapally had an excellent partnership with Arjun Vajjala, and then to finish the game in confident fashion with Surya Thuremella. Shashank Gundlapally was the highest scorer for ARCB Team with 4 boundaries and a Six! Surya scored 8 runs to take ARCB to finish a game with a boundary. What a win! It is a collective effort of our boys, inspite weather is totally a different than from home town.
